United Healthcare provides insurance to more than 70 million people across the globe. It is one of the largest health insurance providers in the world, and because of this, members can expect to receive decent coverage for substance use and mental health disorders. If you are looking for treatment for yourself or a loved one and currently carry United Healthcare, you have options. How much insurance will cover and for how long is dependent on your specific policy.
Montco Recovery Center accepts United Healthcare insurance coverage. In fact, it’s one of the most common insurance carriers we work with. You may call United Healthcare directly to find out what your benefits are, or you can call our admissions coordinators at 215-398-1888. We are happy to verify insurance and tell you what services are covered at our facility. Typically, policies with higher premiums and lower deductibles will cover more treatment, whereas policies with lower premiums and higher deductibles will cover less.
What Type of Insurance Does United Healthcare Provide?
We understand that having insurance isn’t always a direct route of financial help for everyone. Some insurance policies cover very little treatment, which is why it’s important to work with your insurance before selecting an addiction treatment center. Montco Recovery Center makes it easy to work with our admissions coordinators and verify insurance so that you have the answers you need to move forward, whether it be with us or another treatment facility.
What we can say about United Healthcare is that the carrier does provide decent coverage for its members. United Healthcare is one of the top providers for individuals and families, offering health insurance, dental insurance and vision insurance. In its network, United Healthcare has over 80,000 licensed behavioral health professionals as well as speciality care providers at over 3,600 outpatient and inpatient facilities.
Additionally, since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was introduced, United Healthcare expanded its coverage options for substance use and mental health disorders. The insurance provider covers detox, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment and follow up care for many of its members. If you or a loved one has United Healthcare insurance, expect to be in good hands.
What Benefits are Covered Under UnitedHealthcare?
Treatment is a complex, ongoing process, so it’s important for recovering addicts to know that much of their care will be covered. Providing coverage for only one part of the recovery process is not enough. Fortunately, United Healthcare covers a wide range of addiction treatment services through its United Choice, United Choice Plus and United Options Planned Provider Organization (PPO) plans.
Here are some of the treatment services that may be covered once you meet your deductible.
- Diagnostic services
- Medical detoxification
- Withdrawal medication
- Health and wellness programs
- Behavioral and medical care
- Nutrition counseling
- Support helplines
- Psychotherapy
- General pharmacology
Does United Healthcare Cover Out-of-Network Treatment Centers?
Addiction treatment centers work a bit differently than traditional healthcare services. Generally speaking, they do not need to be in the same location as your residence to be considered in-network. This means that you can travel to a different state and receive care while getting full coverage from your insurance company.
The type of policy that you have will determine whether out-of-network treatment centers are covered. In some cases, insurance will pick up some of the cost of an out-of-network addiction treatment facility. In other cases, it won’t pick up anything. Here at Montco Recovery Center, we do recommend sticking with substance abuse treatment facilities that are in your network. You can expect more coverage and greater discounts, relieving you and your family from additional debt.
Fortunately, if you need to attend treatment out of state, there are many treatment centers that will still be considered in-network. Some of our clients prefer to receive treatment away from their normal environment. This avoids distraction and allows them to focus solely on their recovery.
Montco Recovery Center Offers Three Convenient Levels of Care
Montco Recovery Center offers three levels of care, which we will explain in more detail. Our treatment services do not require clients to live at our facility, which means they can return to their friends or family at the end of the day. In fact, many of our clients choose to continue work or school while getting the support they need to be sober.
Since our treatment services are not done on an inpatient basis, we are able to control costs for our clients. Imagine being able to receive a personalized treatment plan, weekly counseling sessions and access to support groups and therapy while returning home at night.
Here are the three levels of care provided by our treatment facility.
- Partial hospitalization. Our partial hospitalization program requires clients to receive 5 hours of care, 5 days a week. This level of treatment is most intense and an excellent choice for those who have not yet received treatment for a drug or alcohol addiction. We expect at least 20 hours of treatment each week.
- Intensive outpatient. Our IOP is a step down from PHP but still extremely supportive. Clients receive 5 hours of treatment, 3 days a week. A minimum of 9 hours is expected from each client. Treatment includes individual, group and family counseling sessions.
- General outpatient. Clients can continue with general outpatient treatment for as long as needed. General outpatient includes one individual and one group counseling session each week. Some clients prefer the additional support general outpatient provides as they assimilate into society.
Don’t Delay. Your Journey to Sobriety Starts Here.
Substance abuse costs our nation billions of dollars every year. Drug overdoses claim the lives of over 52,000 Americans and is now a leading cause of death for Americans under age 50. For those who assume that addiction only affects the individual, think again. Substance abuse affects individuals, families, the workplace and society. By investing in your health today, you are investing in your future and the future of others.
To get started on the path to sobriety, call Montco Recovery Center. We accept many forms of insurance, and United Healthcare is one of them. Our admissions coordinators are compassionate, understanding and knowledgeable. They are happy to verify your insurance at any hour of the day and explain your coverage and benefits. If you qualify, we can move forward with a pre-assessment. Montco Recovery Center is not contracted with United Healthcare, therefore bills United Healthcare for services at an out-of-network rate.
